About the Madaba Series

The Madaba Plains region in central Jordan is located in the highlands to the east of the Dead Sea’s northern end. It is a broad plain on the central Transjordanian plateau near the modern city of Madaba. The Madaba Plains Project series reports on seasonal findings from the excavations at Tall al-’Umayri and vicinity conducted by a consortium of colleges and universities principally sponsored by Andrews University. In its field reports and descriptions of the various seasons, this series provides analyses of such aspects as the food and water systems, sedentarization, nomadization, ancient environment, and ceramic and small finds. Among their many figures and illustrations, these volumes include photos, maps, pottery plates, and section drawings. Editors for the series include Douglas R. Clark, Lawrence T. Geraty, Larry G. Herr, Øystein S. LaBianca, and Randall W. Younker.
